This last week was summer camp down in northern Texas at a BSA aquatic camp, Camp Constantin. The weather was like 100 degrees, but luckily we did have a water-side campsite. At that campsite we could swim in the lake after the adults roped off a safe area, which was a lot of fun. Camp Constantin also had a swimming area in the lake and a “Blob”. The Blob is a big inflated balloon where one person jumps onto one end which launches another person off the other end into the water.
A lot of our newer boys got their Totin’ Chip and requirements for their First Class rank. A lot of the boys also got to work on water badges like motor boating, sailing, swimming, water sports, life saving and more. Our Troop had a Staff "Air Band" contest/party, and we also built and raced a raft made from items found around our campsite.
Did I say it was hot? This camp made the past years’ summer camps up in the mountains look like heaven! There were also all the bugs and spiders but we survived them all. In all, we had fun and got a lot of badges.
And that wraps up this blog. Stay tuned in for our next campout…
